15 March 2014 – I’ve been having trouble with my feet. I knew that my feet would swell at the start of the hike. I purposefully bought hiking shoes one size bigger (size 13 vice my normal 12) to account for the swelling. Apparently, I need to upsize to a 14. I’ve been ignoring the blister discomfort thus far but I need to fix the problem. I’m in Franklin, SC where they have a good outfitter and a “shoe guru”. I’ll keep you posted.

Hang in there! I would suggest Body Glide, but it sounded like you already started with some. A few extra days added on will be worth it to get your feet feeling better. 🙂

I met a group of thru-hikers a decade ago in the Presidentials who wore Tevas. Their feet looked like those of Hobbits. They said it took time to get their feet “toughened up” and they all swore by them. Who’d a thunk!?
